AppleTree APTESG has defined Version 1 of its ESG methodology. The methodology is currently undergoing expert review and will be tested and refined through pilot applications.
Common baseline
36 questions across Environmental, Social and Governance
The first version provides a consistent starting point for participating companies. It is a pilot baseline, not a complete sector-specific standard.
Social
Questions examine people, working practices, stakeholders and supporting company evidence.
Governance
Questions consider policies, responsibilities, oversight and how decisions are documented.
What the pilot tests
Method and workflow in real company settings
Pilot applications will help test whether questions are clear and applicable, whether evidence requests are proportionate, and how much work the process requires. Findings will inform later refinements.

How information moves through the current process
The process connects company statements to supporting evidence, then returns a private baseline for discussion and testing.
Company context
The organisation provides basic context so the current baseline can be interpreted appropriately.
Answers and evidence
The company completes 36 E, S and G questions and links relevant documents or other supporting evidence.
Pilot review
Submissions are reviewed against ESG Methodology V1. Some collection and review steps may be handled manually.
Private results and feedback
Detailed results remain private. The company also helps test usability, workload, clarity and applicability.

Detailed company scores, results and submitted evidence are private. Any future public profile or recognition output will be designed around that boundary.
Clear terminology
Assessment, recognition and certification are different
The terms describe different activities and should not be used interchangeably.
Assessment
A structured process for organising company answers and evidence against the current methodology and identifying areas for attention.
Recognition
A planned public output, such as a badge, intended to communicate participation or an outcome once the model is operational.
Regulated certification
A formal status delivered under applicable standards and oversight. The AppleTree pilot does not provide this.
Scope boundary
AppleTree APTESG is not presenting this pilot-stage process as a regulated certification, statutory audit, assurance engagement or ESG rating. It does not replace applicable legal, reporting or sector-specific obligations.
